Round-up of Feng Shui Your Financial House
I confess. Iβm an agent of chaos. π€¦π»ββοΈπ€·π»ββοΈπ
On December 1st, I decided to create a 31-day email advent calendar that would help you tidy up your financial house so you could enter the New Year on top of your money shit.
Do you also routinely set your hair on fire just for fun? Or is it just me?π€£
Thanks to my cousin and partner in crime, Laurie Arakaki, a design whiz and tech wrangler, we got it done, and here we are, seven tasks and mini-lessons later.
I used to give myself a hard time for needing deadlines to get things done or for being SO EXCITED about an idea that I just HAVE TO GET IT DONE RIGHT NOW.
Creative types like me can have a hard time with the schedules and project plans that make everyone elseβs life easier but turn me into a caged animal.
Being a portfolio manager was a perfect career for me. The market does not give a flying fig about your to-do list or schedule. Companies preannounce disastrous news whenever it becomes material, geopolitical events happen at random, and the economic winds are always shifting, buffeting the markets. I had no idea how the day would unfold and I loved it.
But personal finance is more than just dealing with the chaos that is the stock market. Checklists, automation, and good habits will get you farther than being an adrenaline junkie.
For sure, you need cognitive flexibility and a high tolerance for uncertainty, (a prerequisite for living a full and contented life IMHO) but successful day-to-day stewardship of your wealth requires a steady, consistent hand at the helm.
Donβt be me. π€―π₯
Do the check-lists. β
